During the month of October, you may see more pink ribbon magnets than any other time of the year. There is a reason for this.
In case you are not yet aware, Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place during October. Every since the early to late 1990s various events and celebrations have been established to help provide greater education about this disease.
The other goal of various Breast Cancer Awareness Month and corresponding celebrations such as Pink Ribbon Day is prevention. One of the points stressed during this time is that early detection can actually save a woman’s life.
In addition, breast cancer organizations are searching for new treatment options. One of the most recent hopes within the past 20 years or so is that new action can be taken besides receiving a mastectomy. Furthermore, various organizations dedicated to teaching about breast cancer help dispel myths about this disease that is potentially fatal if untreated.
Pink ribbon magnets are one example of an item used to help symbolize breast cancer awareness. Survivors of breast cancer wear them to help educate others. Friends and families wear them in order to support those who are affected by this serious illness.
Pink ribbon magnets may be attractive and cute in them selves. However, when attributed to breast cancer they symbolize serious business.
